Spotting guide-foods and most soil The most practical and safe cleaning agent is good ole' H2O or water if you prefer. Depending on the substance your husband or kids, dog/cat have spilled or tracked in to your carpet will determine the approach to removing the unwanted addition to your floor. If you own a water freindly vacuum(shop vac works well here) remove as much as the soil as you can with a wet/vac and then pour water (enough to soak the area of the spot, no more than 12 ounces) on spill and vacuum up with wet vac, repeat until spot is removed, dry thoroughly with wet/vac and place a fan directly on spot to help drying process. This will work on most furniture fabrics as well, check to see if this is recommended on the label first as well as always do a test on an inconspicuos area. Of course most red-orange food/drink spills may require additional steps. We do not recommend any spotter chemicals as this may remove colour from the fibers in the carpet/fabric.
 | Grease, oil or petroleum products Generally these types of stains can be removed with the right cleaning agents which are solvent cleaners. We highly recommend calling a professional cleaner(Heartland Carpet Cleaners) to correct these. We use a water extraction machine for most of these types of spills.
